Yo Gabba Gabba, Not Just For Children
THE YO DAZZLERZ - You can’t always get what you want (via yogabbagabba)
This is just delightfully subversive. This song is about how you can’t always get what you want; but it’s not taking the Rolling Stones stance of “hey, maybe you’ll get what you need instead.” And it’s not taking the usual children’s show stance of “hey, but maybe if you try asking politely or do your chores or get good grades…”
Instead, the song says, “You can’t always get what you want, and it won’t help if you keep on asking.”
Basically, it’s saying “You can’t always get what you want. Deal with that you little brat. And if you keep asking, not only will you not be getting what you want, you’re going to aggravate your parents so much you’re totally going to regret it. So stfu, seriously.”
It’s amazing. This is so good, and I know I definitely would have benefited from hearing a message like this as a child.
Also, Jack Black! I love Yo Gabba Gabba!
Grownups with Twitters follow GabbaFriends!
Jack Black might be not as funny as he used to be, but when he hi-fives DJ Lance’s giant finger, I kind of died.
PREVIOUSLY ON:
I’m late in the “game” so here are a few of the best Gabba performances (that are unembeddable):
“Happy Birthday” by The Ting Tings
Biz’s Beat by Biz Markie (Biz has a regular feature called, “Biz’s Beat of the Day”)
Of Montreal - Brush Brush Brush
One of my favorites: “No One Wants To Be Left Out” by Mates of State.
They totally need to produce a kid’s album.
